My name is Ricardo Leclaire (31). I’m a MSc. in Health care psychology, and studied psychology at Radboud University Nijmegen and Maastricht University. I was born and raised on the South-East side of Maastricht, in and around the former independent municipality and village of Heer. My reflective nature and difficult experiences in my youth lead me to develop an interest in psychology, and later in psychotherapy. I have personal experience as a client and know what it’s like to ‘sit in the other chair.’
I work from a psychodynamic perspective, because I have found this form of therapy to be the most helpful myself as a client, and scientific studies show this to be a very effective form of therapy as well. Mindfulness is another important element of my approach to therapy. Mindfulness and psychodynamic therapy both aim to increase awareness and being ‘aware in the moment’ in different ways. I practice mindfulness and similar approaches in my persona life as well.
As a psychologist I am registered with the Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen (NIP), or Dutch Institute of Psychologists. For my professional development I take part in the necessary supervision and intervision with colleagues.
